Yes. A solar-ready smart charger diverts surplus PV energy into your car and can prioritise a home battery when generation is low. Ideal with arrays of 3 kW or more, these chargers use dynamic load balancing so you never exceed your main fuse rating, even on cloudy days. We install MyEnergi zappi, Hypervolt Home 3 and similar units.

No—wall-mounted or pedestal units are permitted development across England and Wales. Listed buildings, conservation areas or verge-mounted units may require consent; we flag any edge cases during our survey and liaise with local planners if needed.

Most domestic jobs finish in three to four hours: consumer-unit check, dedicated circuit, wall-box mount, BS 7671 testing and app walk-through. Commercial multi-bay installs follow the same workflow, often completed overnight to avoid downtime.

A single-phase home install usually ranges from £900 to £1,200, but we quote each property individually after a free survey. Pricing reflects cable length, consumer-unit capacity, surge protection and your chosen 7 kW smart charger. Grants such as the EV Chargepoint Grant (see FAQ 4) can reduce the total, and every install includes NICEIC certification and Part P notification—no hidden extras.

The average UK driver sees £20–£35 per month added to their bill when charging a 40–60 kWh EV on a standard tariff. Switching to an off-peak EV tariff can cut that to under £15. Smart chargers automate cheap-rate charging, so running costs drop to roughly 7 p per mile—less than half the cost of petrol.

Use the 3-pin lead only for emergencies; it charges at 2.3 kW (≈ 8 miles per hour) and can overheat sockets. A 7 kW wall box adds 15–30 miles per hour, includes RCD + PEN-fault protection, and lets you schedule off-peak rates—safer, faster and cheaper long-term.

We supply 7.4 kW single-phase, 11 kW and 22 kW three-phase AC chargers with Type 2 sockets or tethered leads. Legacy Type 1 cars are covered via adapters, and we partner on 50 kW+ DC rapid projects for fleet depots.

EV Chargepoint Grant: up to £500 for eligible renters and flat owners with off-street parking. Workplace Charging Scheme: up to £500 per socket (up to 40 sockets) for eligible businesses. Load balancing shares available amperage between multiple chargers to protect your incoming supply. A master charger or hub monitors real-time demand and automatically throttles each vehicle’s charge rate, preventing nuisance tripping.
